The topic of art and artificial intelligence naturally drew my attention because I love to express my creativity through art and it feels very personal to me. I have always loved sharing my creations with others, and the fact that artificial intelligence can take away our ability to create meaningful pieces of art makes me worry about the future for art.
Many illustrators, artists, and writers have higher risks of losing their jobs, and this topic feels like something very relevant to speak up about. AI challenges our devotion to understanding pieces of art, the meanings behind it and what makes it special in the first place. For my writing process, I did face some challenges, such as maintaining a colloquial tone and blending it with an academic tone. It was also very tricky to balance these two, but I also found it hard to integrate my evidence and blend them with my own ideas.
For my work on "The Danger of AI: Why We Must Protect Human Creativity," I used several types of evidence, such as facts and statistics, historical examples, expert opinions and personal anecdotes about why I believe real human-made art matters. These are not just my personal feelings but facts supported by real data.
The fact that AI is already affecting jobs, livelihoods and future generations is something that should not be overlooked and definitely spoken up on. The part of my op-ed I believe the most is effective is my call to action. I want readers to feel empowered to support human artistry and push for better protection against AI replacing our creative jobs. This questions the reader to think whether this is the future we really want for ourselves.
I want a future where technology supports human art, rather than replacing what makes it valuable in the first place. Creativity is so important in expressing ourselves, and the real-life experiences are what makes it valuable. Overall, my piece (originally an English assignment) has helped me reflect on the value of human creativity, and has shown me that although AI can be useful, it can be exploited to an extent. Although, I hope that by sharing my thoughts and evidence, I can encourage others to value and support human creativity for the better and benefit the art industry.
